Our Interim Pastor - Rev. Tracy Hartman

Picture
Tracy Kemp Hartman was born and raised in Rockville, Maryland. She experienced a call to ministry in high school and her pastor encouraged her to pursue her Bachelor’s degree at Carson-Newman College in east Tennessee, where she met her husband, Jay Hartman. In 1981, she and Jay married and moved to Winter Springs, Florida (Jay’s home) where they worked bi-vocationally in youth ministry and the family construction business. Their children were born in 1987 and 1988, first Zan and then Jonathan. In 1989, the family moved to North Carolina to begin seminary studies. In 1991, they moved to Richmond to attend Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (BTSR). Tracy completed her M. Div. in 1995 and then pursed her Ph.D., at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education. Upon completion of her degree, Tracy joined the faculty of BTSR where she directed the internship program, taught Preaching and Formation courses, and served at acting Dean until the seminary’s closure.
Tracy has been a regular contributor to the Abingdon Women’s Preaching Annual and the Abingdon Preaching Annual. Additionally, she is an adjunctive faculty at Bluefield College, served as preaching instructor for the First Annual Pastor’s Conference at Baptist Theological Seminary at Zimbabwe, Africa, and is adjunct faculty at McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University in Atlanta. Reverend Hartman is active in Baptist life, has served as staff member and interim pastor to several Virginia churches, including WRCOB in 2008 and 2017-2018, and enjoys preaching throughout the region. In her spare time, Tracy enjoys traveling, reading, all types of fiber arts (sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, etc.) and her granddaughter, Ava. The Hartman family enjoys camping together and playing all types of board games and cards. Currently, Jay is getting ready to retire from being a general contractor, and Jonathan is married to West Richmond’s Sarah Beers.

Our Administrative Assistant - Barbara Beers

Barbara, raised in Pennsylvania's Valley Forge area, commenced her church journey as Choir Director at Green Tree Church of the Brethren in the 1980s. Following marriage, she served as Church Secretary. Relocating to Virginia in '97, Barbara sought part-time work in sync with her daughters' school schedule. Joining the staff in 2000, she continued through her daughters' growth into mothers. After nineteen years, Barbara temporarily stepped away, returning in November 2020 with renewed vigor. Delighted to have husband Kevin on staff, she embraces her role.

Our Preschool Director - Jackie Allgood

Picture
Jackie is the Director of Hilltop Preschool. She joined the preschool in 2014 as a Lead Teacher and went on to fill in and eventually take over the Director position the following school year.

Jackie is a native Minnesotan. She began her love of working with young people over 30 years ago for the Children and Youth Group Programs at Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

After transplanting with her family to Virginia, she continued working in various areas with preschoolers at Mount Vernon Baptist, Shady Grove United Methodist, Lakeside Presbyterian, and Trinity Lutheran Churches.

While raising her own six children and working with others over the years, Jackie also worked in professional capacities in the Real Estate industry, Mortgage Banking, Corporate Tax, Licensing, and Personal Property.

Jackie and her husband, Jeff, are still keeping busy with their two teenage sons at their home in Hanover. When they are not volunteering with the Patrick Henry Marching at band performances and competitions, biting their nails at travel-baseball tournaments, or cheering from the stands near the band at high school football games (never missed one!), Jackie and her family enjoy traveling, riding four-wheelers through their backyard woods, or just hanging out with their rescued fur babies; two yellow labs and three spoiled cats.

Our Director of Technology and Media - Kevin Beers

"Being able to use my technical skills for the church has been a true blessing."

Family is paramount to Kevin. Married 39 years, he cherishes his two daughters, both strong and independent. With two amazing sons-in-law, plus the sweetest grandson and granddaughters. He also guides an "adopted" grandson for the last 11 years, seeing him grow into a remarkable young man. "My family means everything to me."
