The Christian life is a call from God. God asks us to live a life worthy of that calling. We may ask, what IS “our calling”? God created the world and called us to care for it, called us to care for others, called us to SERVE others by providing for their needs.
As a church we strive to make a difference in our local community, in our country, and in our world. God has equipped us to take on the task, if we live a life worthy of our calling.
This video represents the challenge before us and tells us not only WHO we are, but WHOSE we are.
We are called to act with justice.
We are called to love tenderly.
We are called to serve one another.
To walk humbly with God.
If we live a life worthy of our calling, we WILL change the world.
This piece was originally performed on August 30th during our worship service. We invite everyone to worship with us Sunday mornings at 11:00 am. When our doors can finally be opened, we would love to see everyone who participated online, in person.
Still wearing our masks as required, the handbell choir played a beautiful arrangement of "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow". We were able to present the piece in our online service on August 23, 2020.
During our August 16, 2020 worship service, this hymn was performed by Sarah Beers and Pastor David Whitten. As it name implies, "Simple Gifts" the guitar and flute combo is very simple in nature, and yet powerful in its message. It was also performed outside the front doors of the sanctuary. Wide open doors because ALL are welcome in this place. The Brethren have a long history of living very "simple" lives. Our joy is found in our God, not in our possessions.
At West Richmond Church of the Brethren, this number was performed for the July 26, 2020 online service. A beautifully arranged piece, performed by some of our musicians.
Today's special music was preformed by the Beers family. Kevin and Barbara Beers, daughter and son-in-law Anna and Travis Williams. This particular song is a Mennonite favorite! And is now being done more and more in the Church of the Brethren.
During our worship service on August 16, 2020, our handbell choir performed a song simply named "Melody". Reminiscent of a music box, it set the calming tone for the remainder of the service. Due to the pandemic, the choir was fully masked and socially distanced (I promise it has nothing to do with looks).
